Alocasia sumo has a very large root system and needs to be potted up annually. It will need to be repotted at least every three years to keep it healthy. It grows best in well-drained soil with a good amount of organic matter.
Alocasia is often planted in pots or tubs and then transplanted outside once the plants have been established. They are generally eaten fresh or cooked, but may also be used in salads and other dishes.
